In silkscreening it denotes a drawing done directly onto the screen by closing off the mesh of the screen surrounding the image. In other words the image of the screen is a kind of negative which may be brought about with the ink and stencil method. The result is that the screen acts as a kind of stencil itself and, when printed, the impression will result in a positive image on the paper. [white (meaning 1), positive, serigraphy].
