Cooking
Oily inks are made with a certain amount of oil which is to a greater or lesser
degree thickened by cooking. The thinnest oil has been cooked the least (about half
an hour) while the thickest one is cooked longer. The cooking of the oil is then
followed up by a burning whose purpose it is to degrease the oil. Oil that has not
been cooked is spoken of as raw (such as raw linseed oil).
[* oil].
