Diamond
Diamond tips (and more often ruby or saphire tips, which are less expensive) are
used to trace very fine lines directly on metal plates or on a ground. Such tips
may be used to produce light grays made of crossed lines. Diamond tips are
also used for technical engraving on steel or other metals but in this case they are
found on a pantograph*.
