Doubling
  1. In lithography doubling is the term used for reinforcing or heightening a stone by placing another one below it. Such doubling is achieved by fixing the two stones to each other with plaster.
  2. In restoration work prints are sometimes "doubled" by placing them on another sheet of paper to which they are glued because by themselves they are too fragile. [* restoring , paper].
