Doubling
- In lithography doubling is the term used for reinforcing or heightening a
stone by placing another one below it. Such doubling is achieved by fixing the two
stones to each other with plaster.
- In restoration work prints are sometimes "doubled" by placing them on
another sheet of paper to which they are glued because by themselves they are too
fragile. [* restoring ,
paper].
