Dusting
[1] A bronzing process in which the metal powder is spread over the surface of a sheet of paper which has already been given a layer of mordant , bronzing machine
[2] In order to reinforce a copy that is to be etched it may be dusted with a resinous mixture. In photo-engraving dusting is done to protect the slopes of the lines.
[3] An ink defect occuring after printing in which the pigment is dissociated from the vehicle. This happens when the vehicle is totally absorbed by the paper and the pigment becomes a powder. It is due to the use of an ink unsuitable to the absorption of the paper it is printed on. [ink , paper ].
