Effect
Accentuation of particular values and contrasts as opposed to simple line drawing. Adding "effect" is the step by which a line drawing gains its final shape and depth. In engraving the step from line engraving to "effect" was first used in the 16th century. Rembrandt developed the use of effect to its full height.
