Electrotype
A
relief copper plate obtained by galvanoplastic means. A curved or
flat duplicate printing plate (the original of which is a halftone,
line engraving, type or combination) made by the
electrotyping
process, consisting of a copper or
nickel-and-copper shell, (sometimes faced with a coating of chromium)
backed up with an alloy of lead, tin and antimony, known as
electrotype
metal.
