Engraver
  1. Generally speaking anyone who practices engraving.
  2. In industrial lithography several specialized workers collaborate on a single piece (the industrialization of lithography came about in the course of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century). The engraver-lithographers job is to etch, usually on stone, letters and images while other workers draw on the stone and still others do the colour work.
  3. In photo-engraving* the engraver (also called "fine etcher") is a specialized worker wno etches the plate according to the gillotype* process.
