exposure
Presenting a sensitized surface to light rays. At the beginning of photography exposure
was done in sunlight from which derived the term insolation (which, however,
is not used today). Today UV-exposure units (ultra violet light) are used in screen printing,
as well in intaglio printmaking. Photographic images are transferred on to light
sensitive film or plates. These techniques are introduced by the printing industry
and now introduced in printmaking. Related subjects: photogravure,
photopolymer plate
