lace
- Lace is. sometimes used in textile grain process
to obtain particular patterns. Usually the lace is pressed into
the ground covering the plate before the ground has had time to
solidify. Lace may also be soaked in a chemical ink and laid on a
lithographic stone In order to obtain the same result in this
other technique.
- In typographical work the term "lace" is used to
designate a worked
outline*
or an ornamental border.
