planography, planographic
printing
The term used for a group of printing
techniques which are surface printed as opposed
to
relief-printing
or
intaglio-printing.
The two major planographic techniques are
offset
and
lithography.
Erroneously, some have tried to apply the term planography in a more
restrictive sense using it only for the single types of
photolithography,
such as black-and-white line and halftone reproduction.
