pumicing
The
pumicing of a plate, block or a stone is done in order to even out
the surface by wearing it down. Pumicing is not done in order to
polish a surface but rather to get it to the point where polishing
procedures can be carried out (even though polishing may not always
be required).
[abrasives,
polishing]
