Silicon carbide (Carborundum)

Silicon carbide is one of the hardest abrasives after diamond. In lithography it is used to grain the lithographic stone, with another stone or with a grinding disc.

Furthermore, it is used for "carborundum-printing". Many people use carborundum for the grinding of lithostones.
