Elliptic Tint Tools

The cutting edge has the shape of the bottom of a shield. The sides of the tool are curved so that the line width from the beginning to the end can vary. The deeper the cut, the wider the line. Use this tool to draw or to cut the outline of an image. Available in sizes 01-12. These tools are used, both in wood engraving as well as in metal engraving (intaglio). Made of excellent quality carbon steel. The tools are ground, but not honed (hone = manaul finishing with small grinding stone (fine) and oil.)
