Copper sulphate
Copper sulfate is a blue powder and can be dissolved in water. Copper sulfate is only used for zinc and aluminum etching, it cannot be used for copper. It is a safe and clean method. Cedric Green introduced this under the name of "Bordeaux etching" (La Bouillie Bordelaise, La Morsure Bordelaise) However, it etches more slowly than nitric acid. Friedhard Kiekeben has adapted the Bordeaux etching and thereby accelerated the process considerably. He now calls this "Saline Sulphate Etch" (salt-sulphate etching) Click on the links for more information: |
