Leather mushroom shaped dabbers

Dabbers can often be used as an alternative for ink rollers. With ink rollers you can work faster, but dabbers often have the advantage that the ink is better transferred than with the roller. With a dabber, the ink is pushed into the grooves, as it were, which is certainly required when inking an etching plate. In the case of letterpress printing, this advantage applies to a lesser extent. In the past, relief-printing forms (15th-16th centuries) were only inked with adabber. The leather dabbers can also be used for applying and distributing traditional wax-based etching ground. Small dabbers are better suited for gravure than the larger one. The larger ones are better for inking relief formes and the application of etching ground.
