albumen
A natural protein,
soluble in water and most commonly found in the whites of
eggs; the colloid used for certain
bichromated
sensitizers employed in photomechanics. It is also used in
bookbinding as size in gold stamping and application of gold
leaves to edges. Latin name: albumen ovi siccum.
