halftone
process
Method of photomechanical reproduction
in which originals are photographed with a
halftone
screen, which translates details and
tones in the negative in the form of a geometric and varying dot
formation, said negative then printed on sensitized copper or zinc
and the resulting image subjected to etching to bring the individual
dots to the required relief for succesful letterpress printing.
