lines to the inch
Measure used in half-tone screens. The lines on the screen are usually measured by the inch (25.4mm) since these screens were first made and sold in the USA. If one wishes to know the number of lines per centimeter just multiply the figure (lines to the inch) by 0.4. The number of lines are measured on a screen with the help of a glass or plastic measuring tool. Insofar as concerns the various densities of lines on screens please turn to the appropriate article.
