lines to the
inch
Measure used in
half-tone
screens. The lines on the screen are
usually measured by the inch (25.4mm) since these screens were first
made and sold in the USA. If one wishes to know the number of lines
per centimeter just multiply the figure (lines to the inch) by 0.4.
The number of lines are measured on a screen with the help of a glass
or plastic measuring tool. Insofar as concerns the various densities
of lines on screens please turn to the appropriate article.
