C.I. Pigment Green 23 History and application: Ancient. A weathering product of a variety of minerals. Quarried in Bohemia. Can be mixed with all binders. Moderate colouring and coverage. Fairly resistant to fading. Does not withstand heat.

C.I. Pigment Green 17. History and application: 19th century An artificial mineral pigment. Beautiful green colour. Can be used in lime, glue, casein, oil, water glass, varnish and cement-based paints. Completely colour fast and weatherproof. High colouring intensity. Good coverage and drying properties. Can withstand high temperatures (900 °c).

C.I. Pigment Red 101. History and application: 19th century An artificial mineral pigment. Named after the vessel in which the pigment was made, which looks like a skull. Can be used with all binders. Dries reasonably well, does not fade and withstands heat. Good colour intensity, good coverage.

C.I. Pigment Brown 7/ Pigment black 10. History and application: Ancient. Mineral pigments from France and Italy. Can be mixed universally. Available in a range of yellows and reds. Most red and yellow ochres are described with letters. These letter relate to the processing and colour of the ochres.
