Cranfield Caligo Safe Wash Relief Inks,
cartridges 300 gram

Caligo "Safe Wash" Relief Inks are oil-based, but provided with an emulsifier, which allows them to be safely cleaned with soap and water. So you have no solvents required to remove the ink. These inks are suitable for all kinds of relief printing techniques, such as woodcut, wood engraving, typography and linocut. By default, there has already been added a small amount of drier (less than 1%), but if it has to dry faster, there may be added a small amount of cobalt or manganese drier. With regard to the fastness to light; All inks score 6 or higher on the Blue Wool Scale.

Caligo Safe Wash Relief Inks 300g Cartridge

The Cranfield Caligo Safe Wash Ink 300gsm cartridges make for the most economical and efficient use of the ink in your work.
The dispensing end of the cartridge has a screw thread and cap which means you can apply the ink to your surface and then after use, wipe the nozzle clean and apply the cap, keeping the remaining ink intact and ready for use next time - prevents wastage of your precious ink.

  1. Mix the three process colours in varying proportions to create a spectrum of bright colour mixes of your own. You will find you can make a much wider range of greens, purples, blues, reds and oranges than you can achieve with a standard blue, red and yellow ink. Use white and black and extender to make an even wider range of tints and shades.
  2. Over printing layers of these inks to create new colours where the transparent coloured layers overlap.
  3. For printmakers who need a four colour process set (CMYK) to create prints with multiple plates.
