Flash Oil is used to diminish the tack of etching inks. It is a clear liquid, not yellowing. It takes just a few drops to diminish tack. Printmakers who make viscosity prints prefer often flash oil compared with linseed oil. Contrary to many other additives this oil dries through evaporation, which reduces the risk of paper damage.

Ink with Flash oil added to it will return slowly to the original properties because the oil evaporates.
Can be used for all oil based inks.

Setswell is a versatile additive that slows drying somewhat helping to keep ink layers open and able to accept and trap subsequent inks being printed. Setswell is also commonly used to reduce the tack and the body of an ink. Add as needed to any ink to meet your needs. Use this product if these inks are too stiff for automatic presses.

A light powder that gives body to lithographic inks and etching inks. The ink becomes stiffer. Many lithographers use this material in the humidifying water (for stone or slab). The stone or plate therefore remains cleaner. Use a dust mask.
