This products is used in two situations:

  • When etching: Covering varnish for the back or front of the etching plate. It cannot be used as an etching ground, because the layer remains elastic.
  • At Lithography: Hence the name "Auswaschtinktur". Senefelder used this as "Auswaschtinktur". It is intended to enhance the image on the stone. After making the drawing, before rolling in and printing, at a certain point the stone is rubbed with a few drops of auswaschtinktur.
