Corundum is slightly less hard than Silicon carbide (Carborundum), one of the hardest abrasives, after diamonds. In lithography it is used to grain the lithographic stone, with another stone or with a grinding disc. Furthermore, it is used for "carborundum-printing". Many people use carborundum for the grinding of lithostones. Corundum is also very suitable for it and it is slightly cheaper than carborundum. |
